SPARE TIRE

Today, I’m announcing the creation of a new band, SPARE TIRE, formed with my friend and “Colors in the Morning” co-producer, Brian Dane Hansen. If you haven’t seen our band intro video, watch it HERE.

Brian and I have talked music and worked on various projects together since 2019. After 5 years of practice communicating and creating together, we decided to try our hand at being in a band. We had endless ideas and thoughts about what we wanted to do, how we wanted things to sound, and how to go about making it sound that way. As with all things, the plan and the idea is thrown out nearly immediately when the rubber meets the road. When we sat down to record and “explore our sound” a song just popped out as natural as a chicken laying an egg. Ever since then we’ve been off to the races. Brian’s a masterful mixing engineer — when I heard the final mix of our first song, I got chills. Oftentimes I get the most emotional and invested in music when I’m in the process of writing it. By the time I hear a mix, I am so burnt out of the song that it takes intentional and concerted effort to hear it like a listener and not a critic. But in this process, I got space to enjoy the work as one of many parts, and not as the sole driver. As a recovering control freak, the thought of not having my hands on the wheel one hundred percent of the time was grating on my nerves. What actually happened was like a deep breath. So I’m beyond excited for you to hear the songs we’ve got coming your way.

I am still very much so charging a head on Joseph Bones related music, but these detores and offshoots are sure to sweeten the well that I’m drawing from. Thanks for reading, for caring, and for sticking around. It means everything to me and I appreciate you deeply.

The other half of SPARE TIRE,

Joseph Bones
