There’s a feeling I’ve come to love and hate — nostalgia. Not the pining after toys and trinkets, or the warm glow of “back in my day” sentimentality; rather, the cadence of missed memories and lusted-after lost time with close people. That’s what this EP’s about. The Warning, sets the stage for the inevitability of change. Blackberries Prelude sits in the spell of childhood innocence and looks ahead to its demise. Blackberries is a letter and response to what’s left after trauma and tragedy. Identity looks inward, exploring faith and transformation in the wake of sadness and pain. I’ll Go With It is the turning of the tide, the rounding of the corner, the turning the page. Birds is the first step, the forgiveness, the momentum, the hope that better things come out of worse things.
